The primary goal of DRAG is to break the stereotypes and myths associated with disability and persons with disabilities, which often exclude them from the mainstream society. It’s a multi-stakeholder forum comprising business leaders, journalists, academia, medical practitioners, and civil society representatives. Since its inception in March 2020, DRAG has operated as an independent platform that strives to create a more equitable and just society for all individuals, regardless of their abilities.
DRAG is engaged in empowering persons with disabilities to exercise their rights and reach their full potential, challenging and transforming prevailing societal attitudes and behaviors towards disability, promoting a culture of inclusivity, acceptance, and respect, and amplifying the voices and visibility of PWDs in social and public spheres.Through their comprehensive approach, DRAG has made significant strides in serving the disability community in Faisalabad.
They have successfully identified approximately 7,500 persons with disabilities (PWDs) through door-to-door visits across 82 Union Councils and numerous screening camps.Their efforts have resulted in 7,337 PWDs receiving disability certificates, with 5,000 of these individuals gaining access to government schemes and relief through Bait ul Maal. DRAG has also distributed 250 assistive devices, helping 3,080 PWDs secure employment in both public and private sectors. Their work has dramatically increased the registration of PWDs in government records from just 2% to 15% in the Faisalabad district, demonstrating their significant impact on the lives of persons with disabilities.
