Celebrating International Women's Day on the theme Accelerating Gender Equality for an Inclusive Future
AWAM Pakistan Celebrating internationalwomensday25 in collaboration with Tearfund in Faisalabad. The event attended by 100 participants including Domestic workers, Sanitation worker, Home Based Workers, religious clergy, former parliamentarians, Journalists, Advocates, CSOs, Academia, Research students and young leaders.
The objective of the seminar was to discuss the obstacles hindering women's empowerment, loopholes in existing laws concerning women, and the complexities of the implementation system, as well as to provide recommendations for improvement.
During the seminar, distinguish speakers including Ms. Shazia George (former member of the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women, Chairperson of AWAM), Sonia Javed (Executive Director of AWAM),
Jamshed Gull (representative of Tearfund), Dr. Najma Afzal (former member of the Punjab Assembly), Advocate Fatima Saeed (Beacon International College), Rida Sandhu (SAMAA News), Safia Hayat (poet and fiction writer) shared their views.
The discussions emphasized the importance of legal reforms, effective policy implementation, and collective efforts to create a more inclusive and empowering society for women.
